Job summary

PMY Group in Carrollton, TX is seeking a design and documentation professional to document structured cabling and telecommunications systems and to develop comprehensive narratives and schematic designs for stakeholder review.

The role involves planning Riser diagrams, MDF/IDF layouts, and coordination with MEP engineers, as well as collaboration with BIM teams to ensure correct design intent and project alignment. Candidates will stay current with BICSI standards and industry trends.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project stakeholders, architects, and engineers to document the structured cabling and telecommunications requirements.
  • Develop comprehensive programmatic narratives and schematic designs for stakeholder review and approval.
  • Plan sheets with symbols, conduits, cable trays, and riser diagrams.
  • MDF/IDF room layouts and coordination of power and cooling requirements with MEP engineers.
  • Functional and schematic diagrams, patch panel layouts, grounding specifications, and demarcation details.
  • Conduct meetings with stakeholders to define scope and address project-specific challenges.
  • Provide redline markups for incorporation by BIM teams and guide them in achieving design intent.
  • Write detailed technical specifications, including equipment selection, installation procedures, and submittal requirements, following Construction Master Format standards.
  • Collaborate with other low-voltage system designers at WJHW to ensure seamless integration.
  • Review change orders, product substitutions, and shop drawings, and respond to RFIs during construction.
  • Evaluate contractor workmanship and design adherence through site visits, preparing detailed survey reports, and providing guidance where needed.
  • Present findings and recommendations to clients or management teams through written reports and oral presentations.
  • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and Opinions of Probable Cost to inform budget planning.
  • Participate in subcontractor interviews to ensure alignment with project goals and standards.
  • Stay up-to-date on BICSI standards, emerging technologies, and industry trends through personal research and professional development programs.
  • Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.
