Job summary

Responsibilities

• Under supervision of a Physical Cabling Technician or Supervisor.
• Install data cable, phone cable and related hardware; test, label, and certify cables.
• Assist with contractor inspections at new facilities.
• Terminate and test cables; perform punch downs on blocks and patch panels.
• Test and troubleshoot faulty cables.
• Cross-connect circuits using patch panels.
• Maintain core data center infrastructure to BICSI standards.
• Participate in network cabling design, testing, upgrades and technical support.
• Diagnose infrastructure problems, including wire maps and POE testing.
• Keep company standards up to date with current BICSI code.
• Train to consult with department heads and staff to assess needs and propose solutions.
• Learn wiring configurations and terminations and general telecom installations.
• Perform duties during emergencies.

We are currently seeking an experienced:

STRUCTURED CABLING APPRENTICE

Full Time, Days

JOB SUMMARY:

• All tasks will be performed under the direction of a Physical Cabling Technician or the Physical Cabling Supervisor
• Installation of new data cable, phone cable and associated hardware including testing, labeling, and cable certifications
• Assist with inspection of work performed by contractors at new facilities
• Terminating and testing new cable, including block and patch panel punch downs
• Testing and troubleshooting faulty cable
• Cross-connecting circuits using patch panels
• Maintaining core data center infrastructure; following BICSI and organization standards
• Participates in activities to include overseeing network cabling design, new product testing, infrastructure upgrades, and technical support.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve network infrastructure problems including, if necessary, wire maps and POE testing.
• Help keep company standards up to date with the current BICSI code.
• Training to consultwith department heads and staff by assessing needs and recommending appropriate solutions.
• Structured cabling apprentice will become knowledgeable in various wiring configurations and terminations through training, as well as learn technical skills and knowledge of the telecommunications industry and installations, including voice, data, and video structured cabling systems.
• Performs work during emergency/disaster situations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma or its equivalent combination of education and experience
• No prior experience is required, but a demonstrated interest in structured cabling or telecommunications is preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License.
