Job summary

Katy ISD is seeking an Aide - SPED - Structured Autism (YCAP) at West Memorial Elementary in Katy, Texas. This full-time position supports special education services for students, follows teacher guidance, and helps implement instructional activities.

The role requires working with students with disabilities, following both written and verbal instructions, and maintaining student records. CPI certification is preferred; training may be provided after employment.

Qualifications

• College hours 48 for Title I campus or 464 on ParaPro test
• College hours 15 or high school diploma or GED (with a passing score of 464 on ParaPro) for Non-Title I campus
• Valid Texas Educational Aide II certificate required once employed
• Ability to work with children with disabilities
• Ability to follow verbal and written instruction
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Knowledge of general office equipment
• Valid CPI certification preferred (can be obtained after employment)

Responsibilities

• Adhere to federal, state and local policies related to special education aides.
• Participate in planned in-services and professional growth activities.
• Assist in carrying out the instructional program.
• Assist in maintaining student records, audit folders and data collection.
• Assist in preparation, use and maintenance of instructional materials and equipment.
• Assist with teacher-planned activities, exercises and drills.
• Assist in helping students in self care activities such as feeding and toileting.
• Assist in implementing the therapy programs which may require lifting and positioning.
• Attend professional meetings as required.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Physically prompt students through instruction which may require lifting and positioning.
• Other SHARS Duties as assigned.
• Provide Personal Care as identified in applicable student IEPs.
