Job summary

Alfa Laval in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, is seeking a Welder I to lay out, fit, tack and weld steel components per blueprints, ensuring precision, structural integrity and a clean finish.

You will operate MIG and TIG welders, grinders, plasma cutters and related tools, inspect welds to meet quality standards, follow safety policies, maintain a clean work area and assist teammates as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred with relevant welding experience.
• Minimum 1 year experience using MIG or TIG welding.
• Must pass Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) if PAPR is required.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Proficient in MIG welding and oxyacetylene torch use.
• Skilled in basic math and tape measure reading.
• Experienced with hand tools, drill/saw machinery, and overhead crane operation.
• Forklift certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints and follow instructions to execute weld procedures.
• Operate mig and/or tig welders, stick welding, grinders, plasma cutters, drill presses, and other tools.
• Familiar with welding carbon and aluminium steel.
• Assemble and weld parts with precision using clamps, bolts, and tack welds.
• Plan layouts and welding sequences for structural integrity and safety.
• Inspect and correct welds to meet quality standards.
• Use measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Perform routine maintenance and complete preventive checklists.
• Support material handling, loading/unloading, and workstation supply.
• Assist team leaders and train others as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout shift.
• Crosstrain across departments to expand skillset.
• Ability to use and operate hand tools, pneumatic tools, and electric tools.
• Prioritize safety and adhere to company policies.

About the job

As a Welder I, you will be responsible for laying out, fitting, tacking, and welding steel components and assemblies in accordance with blueprint specifications. Using a range of power tools and welding equipment, you’ll ensure precision, structural integrity, and a clean finish free of undercuts and weld spatter. Your work must meet strict dimensional and aesthetic standards, contributing directly to product quality and organizational success.

This position is in Tulsa, Oklahoma and/or Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

As a part of the team, you will:

What you know:

• Regularly exert up to 50 lbs of force occasionally; 30 lbs of force frequently
• Stand or walk for 80% of the workday
• Required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment.
• Mobility & Posture: Standing, walking, crouching, stooping, kneeling, and balancing on varied surfaces
• Manual Dexterity: Reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, and lifting objects using upper body strength

Environmental Factors (hazardous materials, work location, work surfaces, exposure):

• Must wear Personal Protective Equipment: steel toe boots, safety glasses, and ear plugs
• Exposure to various weather conditions cold or hot, wet/humid conditions, and loud noise levels. No climate‑controlled environment.
• Work near hazards: moving machinery, vehicles, electrical currents, and chemicals
• Encounter atmospheric conditions: fumes, dust, gases, odors, and poor ventilation
