Job summary

ACL Digital seeks a Structure Payload Design Engineer to develop and document structural and interior payload system requirements and work with cross-functional teams to define the product. You will leverage CAD tools to create robust designs and support the product lifecycle through verification, supplier engagement and production.

The role emphasizes hands-on CAD design, testing, supplier collaboration and delivering interior and cabin components through production and certification processes

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Aeronautical or Materials sciences.
• 9+ years of engineering experience in design, integration, and/or certification.
• Experience with 3-D CAD tools and design documentation.
• Ability to interface with suppliers and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Develops, integrates and documents structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.
• Maintains and modifies payload system and component designs using 3-D CAD tools to provide product definition to engineering, production, suppliers and customers.
• Leads testing to validate and verify that systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
• Manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with suppliers to optimize the design and achieve goals.
• Assists with emerging technologies to develop concepts for future designs and works under minimal direction.
• The Payloads organization handles the interior of the aircraft, cargo compartments, exterior markings, associated systems and cabin safety.
• Interfaces with project engineering, production engineering, program/product teams, management and staff to implement engineering solutions.

Title- Structure Payload Design Engineer

Location- North Carolina and Washington

Position Responsibilities

• Develops, integrates and documents structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.
• Develops, maintains and modifies structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.
• Leads performance, integration and analysis of tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
• Manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.
• Assists with investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements. Works under minimal direction.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
• 9+ years of experience in engineering, including design, integration, and/or certification or equivalent combination of additional education and relevant experience.
