Job summary

CB&I in the United States is seeking a skilled welder to fabricate and weld components per blueprints, ensuring proper fit and finish on structural parts and piping systems. You will read drawings, lay out layouts, and perform various welding tasks with attention to quality and safety.

The position requires experience with multiple welding processes, precision work, and strong safety practices. This on-site role in Smithfield, VA offers benefits including health, retirement plans, and paid time

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in welding or related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Selects type and size of pipe or related materials per specifications.
• Plans layouts, assembly and welding using knowledge of geometry and welding techniques.
• May use Gas-Metal Arc, Flux-Cored Arc, Gas-Tungsten Arc, Submerged Arc or Shielded Metal Arc welding.
• Lays out, positions, aligns and fits components in various body positions.
• Bolts, clamps and welds metal components for piping systems and structures.
• Connects cables to welding units to set amperage/voltage as specified.
• Operates welding equipment and ensures bead depth and fusion meet specs.
• Preheats work piece and may repair or grind welds and surfaces.
• Maintains safety rules and performs duties with accuracy and care.
