Job summary

Martin Energy in Tipton, MO is seeking a structural welder to perform welding and fabrication of power plant components using MIG (GMAW) and FCAW processes. You will read blueprints, set up equipment, and weld components to exact specifications, ensuring quality and safety.

You will weld in flat, vertical, and overhead positions, inspect welds, and adjust parameters to meet engineering standards while maintaining production schedules. A background check and drug screening are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with GMAW and FCAW welding processes.
  • Ability to pass FCAW weld test (3G vertical up) and CWI-evaluated bend tests.
  • Experience working with carbon steel plate (A-36, ~1/2" thick) in multiple positions.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship.
  • Ability to pass background check and pre-employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret blueprints, layouts, diagrams, and work orders prior to fabrication and welding.
  • Position, align, and secure workpieces using clamps, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Operate MIG (GMAW) and FCAW welding equipment to join metal components.
  • Set up welding equipment by selecting electrodes, consumables, and gas/nozzle configurations.
  • Ignite torch or power supply and establish proper arc conditions.
  • Adjust gas flow, amperage, voltage, and polarity for optimal welds.
  • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
  • Inspect completed welds for conformance to specifications and quality standards.
