We have an exciting opportunity in Norfolk, Virginia, in our Welding department for a Structural Welder J-1 (Handyman). The work schedule is from 0600 to 1445 with a 45-minute lunch break.
Shift: All shifts
Security Clearance: No clearance required
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PURPOSE: The Structural Welder should be proficient in SMAW, GMAW, and FCAW welding processes.
High School Diploma/GED plus 2 years of shipbuilding/ship repair experience.
JOURNEYPERSON 4 (Welder): Knowledge of welding on HY-80 & HY-100 base metals, proficiency in SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and ability to weld steel, aluminum, copper nickel, and stainless steel. Ability to read weld gauges, use hand tools, and follow quality standards.
JOURNEYPERSON 3 (Welder): Similar welding skills as Journeyperson 4, with additional pipe welding and torch hookup abilities.
JOURNEYPERSON 2 (Welder): Capable of welding with SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and reading gauges, with supervision.
JOURNEYPERSON 1 (Welder): Basic welding skills, torch hookup, gauge reading, and knowledge of weld symbols, with close supervision.
Includes walking, pulling, crawling, kneeling, standing, and visual acuity.
