Job summary

OPTI STAFFING is hiring in Sherwood, Oregon for a Lead Welder/Fabricator who will lead by example while staying hands-on. You’ll fit, fabricate, weld, and troubleshoot thick mild steel on large machines for the farming and logging industries, reading blueprints, and guiding the shop team.

Requirements include 5+ years MIG welding, ability to read welding symbols, fit and layout experience, and pass a medical exam/fit test.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of MIG welding experience on thick materials.
• Must be able to read welding blueprints and symbols.
• Fitting and layout experience required.
• Proficient with running .052 wire and welding on thick metals up to 3\" thick.
• Ability to pass a medical exam/fit test.
• Familiarity with jib or overhead cranes & rigging.

Responsibilities

• Lead by example while remaining hands-on in the shop.
• Fit, fabricate, weld, and troubleshoot not repeating the same welds every day.
• Work on large machines for farming and logging industries with thick steel.
• Own projects, solve fabrication challenges, maintain quality, and guide the team.

Location: Sherwood, Oregon Compensation: DOE Monday – Friday 6am-2:30pm

This company is proud to buy and make all of its products in the United States. They are a complete process taking in material and performing everything from CNC machining, welding, and assembly.

What You’ll Do:

This is a working Lead Welder/Fabricator role for someone who wants to lead by example while staying hands-on. You’ll be responsible for fitting, fabricating, welding, and troubleshooting—not repeating the same production welds every day. You’ll work on large machines for the logging and agricultural industries, requiring strong experience with thick mild steel. We’re looking for someone who can take ownership of projects, solve fabrication challenges, maintain quality, and provide direction to the team while still being in the shop doing the work.
