Job summary

Ingalls Shipbuilding, a division of HII, is seeking a Structural Welder to join the steel backbone of America’s naval vessels. You will weld, join, and reinforce structural components from drawings, operating in a dynamic shipyard that runs around the clock. Safety, precision, and teamwork are essential as you help build ships for the U.S.

Navy and allies. Requires at least 1 year of FCAW/SMAW welding, ability to pass 3G/2G/4G military spec welding tests, and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year welding experience in FCAW and SMAW.
• Ability to pass a military specification welding assessment in 3G/2G/4G positions.
• Proven experience welding structural steel in demanding environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality welding using SMAW (stick) and FCAW (wire).
• Join, weld, and reinforce a variety of structural steel components.
• Work from drawings and procedures to ensure accuracy and integrity.
• Operate in a 24/7 shipyard environment with hazards like heights and confined spaces.
• Maintain safety practices meeting industry standards.
