Job summary

Ingalls Shipbuilding, a division of HII, is hiring Semi-Skilled Welders to grow into higher craft roles at America’s Shipyard in Mississippi.

You’ll perform structural welding with SMAW and FCAW, read drawings, and assemble ship components while working in shipyard environments, heights, and around-the-clock production. Training and advancement opportunities accompany a competitive hourly wage.

Qualifications

• Requires at least 6 months of FCAW and SMAW welding experience.
• Must pass military standard tests in 3G, 2G, and 4G positions.
• Welding certification or completion of a welding training program may substitute for experience.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural welding using SMAW (stick welding) and FCAW (wire welding).
• Join together various metal materials to fabricate and assemble ship components.
• Read and interpret drawings, weld symbols, and basic blueprints.
• Work in shipboard environments including heights, confined spaces, varying weather conditions, and around-the-clock production areas.
• Support production needs in a 24/7 manufacturing environment and be available for any shift.
