Job summary

Valmont Industries, Inc. in Tulsa, OK is seeking a Welder I in the Global Utility Division. You will weld metal components according to layouts, blueprints, or work orders using brazing and a variety of arc and gas welding processes.

Starting pay is $26.24/hr with potential to reach $28.60/hr by 6-month anniversary; night shift adds $2.00/hr. You will move pole shafts with an overhead crane and participate in safety initiatives while learning Valmont fitting processes within 6–12 months.

Qualifications

  • One month of welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication setting.
  • Successful completion of an internal welding test.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic (add/subtract/multiply/divide).
  • Knowledge of fixturing and weld setup parameters (amps/volts, etc.).
  • Reading and understanding blueprints including weld symbols.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural welding to fabricate or repair components for poles, substations and related structures.
  • Read layouts/blueprints and follow work orders; select appropriate welding methods.
  • Move pole shafts and materials using an overhead crane to support project completion.
  • Adhere to safety policies and participate in department safety initiatives.
  • Assist with Valmont fitting processes during the first 6–12 months.

How you will contribute

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Welder I position in the Global Utility Division. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will weld metal components together to fabricate or repair products according to layouts, blueprints, or work orders, using brazing and variety of arc and gas welding equipment.   • Perform structural welding operations by fusing metal components using arc welding processes in the fabrication of steel electrical poles, substations, and other structures.
  • Perform welding operations requiring limited planning, layout work, and interpretation of blueprints and written specifications to determine operation sequence.
  • Perform welding activities involving moderate safety and load requirements while working in a single position.
  • Move pole shafts and materials using an overhead crane to support project completion.
  • Perform other assigned duties as directed by leadership and management.
  • Participate in department safety initiatives and demonstrate safe work practices in compliance with all Valmont safety policies and procedures.
  • Learn and apply Valmont fitting processes within the first 6–12 months of employment.
What it takes
Required Qualifications
  • One month of previous hands-on welding experience in a manufacturing, fabrication or professional environment
  • Successful completion of an internal welding test
  • The ability to perform basic math functions such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing
  • Must have working knowledge of fixturing and weld set up parameters (amps, volts, etc.)
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • The ability to read and comprehend blueprints including weld requirement symbology
  • One year of previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
