Cornerstone Building Brands in Monticello, IA is hiring for welding roles with a base pay of $25.00–$27.00 per hour. The schedule is 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM, Monday to Friday, with overtime expected. Site at 101 W South St, Monticello, IA 52310.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent from a 2-year college or technical school, or 1–3 years welding experience
• Read blueprints and drawings
• Read and comprehend documents including safety rules, manuals and procedures
• Strong communication skills, able to relay information one-on-one or in small groups
• Basic math including fractions, percentages and basic operations
• Use of power hand tools is required
• Must be able to drive a forklift
• Ability to meet deadlines and lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly

Responsibilities

• Coordinate welder settings, gun speed/travel and gas flow to bead quality
• Read tape measures and blueprints to shop standards
• Determine when adjustments to welding are needed
• Repair pin holes and burn-through in welds
• Train others in welding procedures per manufacturing procedures
• Operate overhead crane and lifting equipment
• Maintain bead shapes, sizes and penetrations to specifications
• Keep numeric/alphabetic sequences correct
• Support continuous improvement in the work area
• Support other projects as assigned by Team Leader

Job Description

JOB DETAILS

Base pay starts at $25.00 - $27.00 per hour

Work Schedule: 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM (Monday - Friday)

Overtime is expected

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Knows and understands all safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and about a manufacturing environment
• Responsible for coordination of welder settings, gun speed/travel and gas flow with the observed condition of bead
• Read a tape measure and blueprints to shop standard
• Decide when adjustment or gun manipulation needs to be altered
• Decide how much and what repairs to make for pin holes and burn-through caused by an auto welder
• Train and teach proper welding procedures in accordance with manufacturing job procedures
• Operate overhead crane and other lifting equipment
• Responsible for holding beads to specified shapes, sizes, and penetrations while maintaining the quality of the product
• Keeping numerical and alphabetical sequences correct
• Maintains continuous improvement practices in thework area
• May be assigned other projects and duties as designated by Team Leader

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent from a 2-year College or technical school; or (1) to three (3) years working experience in welding; or equivalent combination of education and experience as a welder/fitter in the manufacturing industry
• Read blueprints and drawings
• Read and comprehend documents including but not limited to policy manuals, safety rules/programs, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and simple correspondence
• Ability to communicate information effectively one-on-one and in small group situations and settings is required
• Perform general mathematic calculations including but not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, percentages, and division.
• Required to use power hand tools
• Required to drive a forklift
• Ability to work effectively to meet deadlines
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist
