Job summary

Chart Industries, Inc. seeks an experienced welder to perform TIG welding on metal parts, read blueprints and BOM, and verify dimensions and tolerances.

Required: 3+ years TIG welding experience, ability to pass 3G tests, read blueprints, perform precise measurements with micrometer and calipers, and maintain documentation; overtime and weekends may be required; adherence to safety and ISO standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years TIG welding experience
  • Must pass 3G weld test and other weld tests
  • Experience interpreting blueprints and BOM
  • Basic math skills (weight, volume, distance)
  • Self-starter capable of managing workload
  • Proven ability to identify and solve non-conformities
  • Ability to measure with tape, micrometer and calipers
  • Overtime and weekend hours, as needed
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Familiarity with ISO procedures and Chart products preferred

Responsibilities

  • Welds metal parts on fixtures including attaching jigs and clamps to hold metal parts in proper position
  • Fits and welds metal components together, ensuring proper alignment and secure joint
  • Determines type and gauge of steel to be welded making heat adjustments
  • Uses blueprints and design sketches to ensure proper dimensions and tolerance levels
  • Updates and maintains all required documentation associated with job responsibilities
  • Assume responsibility and care of assigned tools and equipment
  • Maintains a clean work area and general housekeeping standards
  • Understands and practices safety and quality procedures, including chemical cleaning solutions
  • Performs all tasks to ISO standards and requirements
  • May perform mass spec and visual inspections meeting stringent visual requirements
  • Performs other duties as assigned (e.g., painting or insulating a tank)
