Westerman, an employee-owned enterprise, operates multiple manufacturing sites that produce equipment for production and storage in the oil, gas, and nuclear sectors. Our equipment is designed to enhance well pad design, increase separation efficiency, and reduce overall equipment costs through advanced surface separation and processing technology. We are establishing new benchmarks for performance and economic efficiency across the nation.$2,500 Sign-on Bonus!This role is based in Casper, WY, at our JW Williams facility, which is part of Westerman, Inc. This position necessitates that employees work on-site in the shop. Candidates must reside in Casper or within a reasonable commuting distance. Westerman, Inc. does provide a relocation package, which can be discussed upon offer of employment.SUMMARYThe Welder is tasked with the setup and operation of sophisticated welding equipment. This role requires the application of expertise to address issues and minimize scrap, rework, and downtime while effectively repairing defective products. The quality of the repair work must meet acceptable standards and adhere to high-quality benchmarks. The Welder is also accountable for ensuring that all work complies with specifications. An ideal candidate is a self-driven multi-tasker who employs a strong work ethic to guarantee that all quality standards are achieved. This position is safety-sensitive.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Consistent and timely attendance at work is a fundamental requirement for every position and is crucial for both your personal effectiveness and that of your team. All employees are expected to maintain regular and punctual attendance.Review specifications or blueprints to ascertain the locations, quantities, or dimensions of necessary materials.Align and secure structural steel members in place for permanent riveting, bolting, or welding.Attach structural steel members to hoist cables using chains, cables, or ropes.Utilize cranes or signal hoisting equipment operators to lift and position steel beams, girders, or columns.Cut, bend, or weld steel components using metal shears, torches, or welding tools.Adjust steel components into their final positions with the aid of turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks, or hand tools.Manipulate steel components into approximate positions for bolting.Unload and arrange prefabricated steel units for hoisting as required.Assemble hoisting equipment or rigging, including cables, pulleys, or hooks, to transport heavy materials or equipment.Fabricate metal components such as steel frames, columns, beams, or girders in accordance with blueprints or directives from supervisors.Dismantle structures or equipment as necessary.Perform welding on separators, glycol absorbers, piping for large and heavy wall vessels, and flow coils, ensuring the ability to produce quality x-ray welds consistently.Weld low-pressure products including heaters, reboilers, glycol coolers, liquid accumulators, building skids, and natural draft combustors.Lay out, position, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications, utilizing tools such as straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.Tack-weld or weld components and assemblies using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment.Cuts the workpiece utilizing powered saws, hand shears, or a chipping knife.Melts lead bars, wires, or scrap to incorporate lead into joints or to extrude melted scrap into a reusable form.Installs or repairs equipment, including lead pipes, valves, floors, and tank linings.Observes tests conducted on welded surfaces, such as hydrostatic, x-ray, and dimensional tolerance tests, to assess weld quality and compliance with specifications.Inspects grooves, angles, or gap allowances using micrometers, calipers, and precision measuring instruments.Removes rough spots from the workpiece with a portable grinder, hand file, or scraper.Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.Performs single-hand welding.Engages in pipe fitting.Carries out other related duties as required and assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :Meticulous attention to detail with the capability to produce precise lines and cuts during welding.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, comprehending the expected appearance of the final product.Skill in identifying defects in welds or structural flaws in metal components.Capacity to ascertain the necessary tools and equipment required for specific tasks.Experience in conducting tests and inspections on products, services, or processes to assess quality and performance.Proficiency in performing routine maintenance on equipment and recognizing when and what type of maintenance is required.Understanding of the properties and characteristics of metals utilized in cutting, welding, and forming, as well as knowledge of various welding fluxes and rods.Awareness of safety measures related to occupational hazards, along with the procedures and practices pertinent to the trade.Adept at selecting the appropriate power and hand tools in the safest manner possible, along with various types of equipment.QUALIFICATIONSTo successfully fulfill this role, an individual must be capable of performing each essential duty or responsibility to a satisfactory standard.
