Job summary

Stony Brook University is seeking a Trades Generalist (Structural) for the Day Shift in the Hospital-Building-Structural area. This full-time role performs journey-level work in one trade and skilled/semiskilled tasks across related trades, supporting repairs and maintenance of facilities and equipment.

Responsibilities include planning work, interpreting blueprints, training others, and diagnosing issues. Requires four years in a trade; NYS driver’s license preferred.

Qualifications

• Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled journey-level position.
• Apprentice training or technical courses may substitute for the above experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Preferred: valid NYS driver's license; hospital/healthcare setting experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform journey-level work in one trade and skilled/semiskilled work in others in repair and maintenance.
• Carry out maintenance, repair, installation and construction tasks in mechanical, building, motor equipment and electrical trades.
• Read and interpret plans, diagrams, blueprints and specifications.
• Train and supervise others and diagnose problems.
