Job summary

Sierra Nevada Corporation is seeking a Structural Technician IV to lead complex assembly operations in the IAS division, bridging production and engineering. You will mentor technicians, manage large-scale projects, and apply best practices to improve manufacturing processes. The role requires a high school diploma, 5+ years of experience, mastery of blueprint reading, and an active Secret U.S.

Security Clearance. Travel may be required and you must have your own tools.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or equivalent; 5+ years relevant experience; higher degree may substitute.
  • Mastery in blueprint reading and technical documentation.
  • Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance required.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex schematics and install per drawings with edge distance and pitch.
  • Experience in structure assembly, minor part fitting and repair/refinishing such as airframe corrosion removal.
  • Ability to install rivets, hi-locks and other fasteners.
  • Must have own tools in good working order.
  • Willingness to travel.

Are you a highly skilled mechanic ready to take your aviation career to next level? Join our team! As a Structural Technician IV, you will oversee the most complex and critical assembly operations. This role involves providing expert technical support, leading large-scale projects, and ensuring the integration of best practices in all assembly processes. You will act as a key liaison between the production floor and engineering management, driving continuous improvement and innovation.

The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Its end-to-end Command, Control, Computers, Communications and Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities encompass design, integration, test, certification, ground/flight training and complete logistics support. Qualifications You Must Have
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • Mastery in blueprint reading and technical documentation.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand and interpret moderately complex technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications; ability to complete installations per technical drawings while maintaining edge distance and pitch.
  • Advanced experience with structure assembly, minor part fitting techniques and repair and refinishing such as airframe corrosion removal, as applicable.
  • Ability to install various fasteners such as rivets and hi-locks.
  • Must have own tools in good working order.
  • An active Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required

  • Advanced certifications in aerospace manufacturing.
  • Proven track record in managing large-scale assembly projects.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense, or US Military.
Essential Functions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Required to be on your feet for most of the work shift.
  • Use of hand and power tools requiring hand/finger dexterity.
  • Exposure to noisy and potentially hazardous environments; proper safety gear must be worn.
  • Ability to travel may be required.

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $34.90 - $47.99. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
