Job summary

Jerry's Body and Frame in Michigan is seeking a Structural Technician Apprentice to restore structural dimensions and integrity to collision-damaged vehicles. You will work side by side with two seasoned technicians, using measuring and frame equipment to diagnose damage and bring parts back to OEM specs.

The role is full-time, with on-the-job training through I-CAR courses PL3, and the shop will cover training costs; state certification in Collision Repair is required before completion.

Qualifications

• Apprentice must have some non-structural training.
• Body shop experience is required.
• State Certified in Collision Repair is required.

Responsibilities

• Restore structural dimensions and integrity to collision-damaged vehicles.
• Use measuring and frame equipment to diagnose damage and return parts to OEM specs.
• Weld and install parts using hand and power tools.
• Work with various materials and joining processes such as welding, rivet bonding, MIG brazing and spot welding.

Structural Technicians restore structural dimensions and structural integrity to collision-damaged vehicles. He or she uses measuring and frame equipment to diagnose damage and return damaged frame or unibody parts to manufacturer’s specifications. Hand tools and power tools are used to remove or repair damaged parts, weld and properly install new parts. This individual works with a variety of materials and joining technologies used in automotive manufacturing such as, but not limited to, mild steels, high-strength steels, ultra-high-strength steels, aluminum, carbon fiber, plastics, glass, electrical and mechanical parts, and joining processes such as welding, rivet bonding, MIG brazing and spot welding.

This will be a full-time Structural Technician Apprentice position. Apprentice must have some non-structural training, body shop experience, and be State Certified in Collision Repair. Apprentice will work side by side with our two seasoned Structural Technicians daily until they have completed all I-Car training courses for PL3 Structural Technician. Shop will cover all costs associated with training and certifications.
