Job summary

The Thompson & Lichtner Co., Inc. seeks an experienced Structural Steel / Welding Inspector to join our team on a on-call, part-time, or full-time basis. This role supports diverse commercial, institutional, industrial, and infrastructure projects across New England.

Expect independent field inspections and accurate reporting, with emphasis on welding, structural steel, and safety. Candidates should read and interpret drawings, review WPS/PQR/WPQ, and communicate findings to project teams while

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI certification strongly preferred.
• Practical experience in structural steel/welding inspection recognized.
• Ability to read weld symbols and fabrication drawings.
• Experience reviewing WPS, PQR, and WPQ documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication, detail orientation.

Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections of structural steel fabrication and erection.
• Verify compliance with contract docs, drawings, WPS, and specs.
• Review WPS/PQR/WPQ when required.
• Inspect reinforcement steel placement and concrete covers.
• Read drawings and welding symbols, document inspections.
• Prepare clear inspection reports and maintain records.
• Communicate findings with contractors and engineers.
• Adhere to safety and OSHA requirements in the field.
