Job summary

EGC Construction, headquartered in Newport, Kentucky, is seeking a Structural Steel Welder for our steel erection group. The role involves welding structural steel, inspecting welds, fitting connections, and assisting with steel erection in commercial and industrial projects. Required is a high school diploma or equivalent, transportation, and good communication skills.

Travel and seasonal weather work are expected. OSHA 10/30 certification is preferred and may be required before starting.

Qualifications

• Must have transportation and good communication skills
• Willing to travel
• Be able to work in a variety of seasonal and weather conditions
• Must be able to certify in stick structural welding
• OSHA 10/30 preferred; if not present, required before starting (paid by company)
• Lift trained and forklift experience

Responsibilities

• Weld structural steel connections for new and retrofit projects
• Inspect welds to meet product specifications
• Fit up, connect and bolt structural steel
• Torch cut and grind steel
• Assist with steel erection connections and bolt up
• Rig equipment as needed
• Assist with pre engineered metal building erection
• Follow safety regulations and maintain a clean, safe work area
