Job summary

MK Consulting Group is seeking a Structural Steel QA/QC/CWI to ensure welded structures and components meet engineering blueprints, safety laws, and industry codes. You will perform visual inspections, verify welding procedures, and document quality results for heavy construction projects in Houston.

The role requires an active AWS CWI certification and 2–5+ years of structural steel QC experience. You will coordinate with engineers, craftspersons, and project managers, and work on-site in

Qualifications

• Active AWS CWI certification.
• 2–5+ years of structural steel QC experience.
• Strong knowledge of NDT, blueprint reading, welding processes (FCAW, GMAW, SMAW), and math.
• Ability to stand, climb, work at heights, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect welded joints and assemblies for defects and dimensional accuracy.
• Read blueprints, shop drawings, and welding symbols to verify specs.
• Ensure compliance with AWS D1.1, AISC, and ASTM standards.
• Review Welding Procedure Specifications and verify welder qualifications.
• Coordinate NDT/NDE activities and document results.
• Maintain inspection records and daily quality reports.
