Job description

The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing structural steel projects from initiation to completion, ensuring successful delivery within scope, schedule, and quality parameters. This role involves leading project teams, coordinating resources, and facilitating communication with stakeholders to achieve project objectives. The Project Manager focuses on project execution, coordination and change management while collaborating closely with financial teams for budget adherence and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Execution:
    • Coordinate resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to meet project deliverables and timelines.
    • Successfully manage changes in scope, schedule and budget such that impacts to the project are minimized.
  • Team Leadership and Coordination:
    • Lead project teams, assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and providing direction to achieve project goals and milestones.
    • Foster collaboration and communication among team members, subcontractors, and external stakeholders to resolve issues and optimize project performance.
  • Risk Management and Issue Resolution:
    • Identify potential risks, challenges, and issues impacting project delivery; develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
    • Resolve project issues promptly, escalating critical concerns to senior management or stakeholders as needed.
  • Client Communication and Relationship Management:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining regular communication, providing project updates, and addressing client inquiries or concerns.
    • Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring client satisfaction and fostering opportunities for repeat business and referrals.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance:
    • Monitor project progress and quality assurance processes to ensure adherence to project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Conduct regular site visits, inspections, and audits to verify compliance with safety protocols and project quality standards.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including change orders, RFIs (Requests for Information), and project status reports.
    • Generate and present project reports to stakeholders, summarizing project performance, milestones achieved, and upcoming activities.

Position Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • 5+ years’ (minimum) proven experience as a Project Manager or similar role in construction, structural steel, or related industries.
    • Structural or Misc. Steel fabrication, detailing and erection experience preferred.
    • Demonstrated success in managing medium-to-large-scale projects, from inception to completion.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide project teams toward achieving project objectives.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
    • Problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking to anticipate project challenges and implement effective solutions.
    • Organizational skills and attention to detail to manage project documentation, budgets, and schedules effectively.
  • Tools and Equipment Used:
    • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
    • Blue Beam Studio
    • Modeling and model viewing software.
    • Communication tools (e.g., email, phone systems).
  • Work Environment:
    • Office environment with occasional site visits or meetings at project locations.
    • Exposure to construction and structural steel fabrication processes.
    • Availability for flexible work hours to accommodate project deadlines and requirements.

Performance Metrics:

  • Timeliness and effectiveness in project planning, execution, and delivery.
  • Client satisfaction ratings and feedback on project management and communication.
  • Adherence to project schedules, milestones, and quality standards.
