Job summary

Schuff Steel Co. in Long Beach, CA, seeks a Project Coordinator to manage the flow of technical information between the PM team, customers, and subcontractors, while cultivating critical internal and external relationships.

This role supports scheduling, detailing setup, and RFI processes, ensuring accurate drawings and timely submittals. It requires strong communication, travel readiness, and proficiency with Tekla, Primavera, FabTrol, and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or technical training in engineering or detailing is highly preferred.
• Minimum five (5) years related experience coordinating structural steel projects.
• Ability to read and interpret shop and design drawings.

Responsibilities

• Review design drawings for accuracy and completeness and coordinate resolution of discrepancies with customers, design team, and trades.
• Coordinate project sequencing and detailing setup, including advance bills and shop/erection drawings.
• Provide technical guidance to steel detailers for shop drawings per project requirements and standards.
• Monitor schedules for submittals, approvals, and shop fabrication releases; flag delays to PM team.
• Organize detailing RFI process with engineers, architects, and general contractors; manage related docs.
• Distribute and route drawings; work with Document Control to avoid delays and maintain logs.
• Act as liaison between shop, field, detailers; resolve fabrication and erection issues.
• Maintain daily communication with PM, Sr. PM or VP on progress; assist PM team.
• Coordinate detailing efforts of various subcontractors; serve as link between detailers, PMs, production, and customers.
