Job summary

Rearden Steel Fabrication in Alaska is seeking a Paint Technician to join our manufacturing team. You will clean, prime and paint metal parts according to shop drawings and tags, and assist in the yard with material handling, loading and unloading paint, while keeping a tidy work area and reporting inventory levels.

The role requires forklift operation, stamina for physical work, and accurate timekeeping in our mobile clock system.

Qualifications

• Must know how to operate a 5 gallon sprayer with two-part paint with hardener
• Must know how to mix paint properly for spraying
• High School diploma preferred
• Must understand how to spray metal for proper adherence in all weather conditions
• Ability to lift 20-50lbs
• Some forklift experience on gravel to maneuver materials for painting

Responsibilities

• Assist in the yard with material handling as well as loading and unloading the paint in the paint booth.
• Cleaning and maintenance of the paint sprayer, hose and any component of the paint bay weekly.
• Operate a forklift to help keep outdoor yard organized and assist loading and unloading trucks as needed.
• Assist with receiving and inventory maintenance with the Tekla EPM system and label makers.
• Accurately records time worked in mobile time clock system.
• Full-time position, overtime as required.
• Communicate and maintain inventory of paint, and ensure paperwork is reported to the front office.

• Clean, prime and paint material according to the shop drawing or tags applied to the part or piece.
• Assist in the yard with material handling as well as loading and unloading the paint in the paint booth.
• Cleaning and maintenance of the paint sprayer, hose and any component of the paint bay and areas at least once per week.
• Must be familiar with using Xylene to clean sprayer
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment daily and report to supervisor when inventory levels are low.
• Operate a forklift to help keep outdoor yard organized and assist loading and unloading trucks as needed.
• Assist with receiving and inventory maintenance with the Tekla EPM system and label makers.
• Accurately records time worked in mobile time clock system.
• Full-time position, overtime as required.
• Communicate and maintain inventory of paint, and ensure paperwork is reported to the front office.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Education

• Must understand how to spray metal for proper adherence in an indoor and outdoor environment in all weather conditions.
