Job summary

Martin Painting & Co. in Columbus, Ohio is seeking an experienced Structural Steel Painter to join our commercial and industrial painting team. You will prepare steel surfaces, apply coatings, and help maintain quality throughout the painting process on industrial projects.

The role requires comfort with heights, strong attention to detail, and safe work practices as part of a field crew. Experience with steel coatings and using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment is preferred.

Qualifications

• Commercial or industrial painting experience preferred.
• Experience painting structural steel is a plus.
• Knowledge of surface preparation and coating application.
• Comfortable working at heights.
• Ability to use painting tools and equipment safely.
• Must be clean-shaven for respirator compliance.
• Reliable transportation.
• Smartphone required for timesheets and communication.
• Ability to work at least two weekends per month.
• Dependable and committed to quality workmanship and safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare steel surfaces for painting and coating applications.
• Remove dirt, loose coatings, rust, and other surface contaminants.
• Perform scraping, sanding, cleaning, and other preparation activities.
• Apply paint and coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
• Maintain consistent coverage and professional finish quality.
• Perform touch-up work when necessary.
• Protect surrounding areas and equipment during painting activities.
• Work from ladders, lifts, scaffolding, or other elevated work areas as required.
• Maintain painting tools and equipment.
• Keep the jobsite clean and organized.
• Follow project instructions and company safety procedures.
• Work with crew members to complete assigned project activities safely and efficiently.

Martin Painting & Co. is seeking an experienced Structural Steel Painter to join our commercial and industrial painting team in Columbus, Ohio.

Position Overview

As a Structural Steel Painter, you'll work on commercial and industrial projects involving steel structures and components. Your work will include preparing steel surfaces, applying coatings, and maintaining quality throughout the painting process.

This position requires attention to detail, safe work practices, and the ability to work effectively as part of a field crew.

Compensation

$22–$27 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
