Job summary

L&D Steel USA is seeking an experienced Structural Steel Fitter/Welder for our fabrication shop. You will read shop and erection drawings, layout, tack and weld structural components, and ensure fit-up meets dimensions.

This hands-on role requires FCAW/MIG welding, attention to detail, and the ability to work with cranes and forklifts. You’ll contribute to safe, quality fabrication and may advance with demonstrated skill and reliability.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and interpret structural steel shop drawings and weld symbols.
• Able to measure and lay out steel using basic tools (tape measure, squares, levels).
• Experience with FCAW/MIG welding and structural steel fabrication.
• Independent and team-oriented with reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret structural steel shop drawings, erection drawings, and weld symbols.
• Layout, fit, tack, and weld structural steel components.
• Accurately measure and assemble steel members using drawings and dimensions.
• Perform FCAW/MIG welding and other welding processes as required.
• Weld structural steel in various positions and configurations.
• Use hand tools, grinders, impact guns, torches, and other fabrication equipment.
• Verify dimensions, squareness, alignment, and fit-up before and after welding.
• Work with cranes, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Identify fabrication issues or discrepancies and communicate them to the foreman or management.
• Complete work efficiently while maintaining quality and following company procedures.
• Follow all company safety requirements and OSHA standards.
