Job summary

The Haskell Company in Florida is seeking a skilled metal fabricator/fitter to layout, fit, and assemble structural steel components per shop drawings and specs. You’ll weld, tack, bolt assemblies, and ensure dimensional accuracy in a hands-on fabrication environment.

Eligible candidates will have extensive experience with measurement tools, reading drawings, and operating overhead cranes, plus familiarity with welding procedures and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Evaluate dimensions, tolerances, and fit-up requirements to ensure quality.
• Work within specified dimensional tolerances and quality standards.
• Interpret shop drawings and visualize 3D assemblies from 2D drawings.
• Identify discrepancies in drawings, dimensions, and fabrications.
• Demonstrate manual dexterity and safely use fabrication tools.
• Read shop drawings.
• Understand weld procedures and symbols.
• Maintain regular attendance and dependability.
• Follow detailed written or verbal instructions independently.
• Safely fabricate, assemble, fit, and inspect structural steel.
• Work indoors and outdoors; aware of hazards.
• Align with company vision of Team, Excellence, Service, Trust.
• Use measuring devices to accurately fit assemblies.
• Verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Safely operate overhead cranes and material handling equipment.
• Certification in Welding 3G preferred.
• Certification in Tack Welding required.

Responsibilities

• Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding.
• Lays out and fits structural steel components per drawings.
• Sets up equipment and performs tack welding.
• Assembles parts with bolts and welds.
• Repairs and modifies assemblies with cutting and straightening tools.
• Measure and verify dimensions to meet tolerances.
• Use measuring tools to fit components.
• Inspect assemblies for accuracy and fit.
• Operate overhead cranes safely.
• Follow safety, quality, and environmental policies.
• Travel as required.
• Other duties as assigned.
