Job summary

Banker Steel Company LLC in Lynchburg, VA is seeking a Structural Steel Fitter to read blueprints and perform layouts for jig and floor laydowns. This role requires strong math skills and effective communication with supervisors and coworkers.

The candidate will be responsible for ensuring adherence to safety standards and for providing training and leadership to the production team. The position is full-time, on-site at the South Plant, with a focus on meeting production and quality objectives

Qualifications

• Reads and interprets blueprints for fitting operation.
• Applies algebra and geometry concepts in fitting work.
• Performs minor layout for jigs and floor laydowns.
• Performs complex layout for jigs and floor laydowns.
• Reads and interprets all blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Ensures production staff follows all safety standards through training and accountability.
• Provides guidance, instruction, direction and leadership while supervising production staff to meet production and quality standards.
• Inspires the team with the vision of project objectives.
• Provides motivation and accountability to the team.
• Responsible for training production staff as needed.

Salary Range: $19.00 To $29.00 Hourly

Has completed at least 5/16 fillet weld test

Reads and interprets blueprints for fitting operation

Responsible for work conforming to drawings and notes

Burns, copes and bevels and straightens material

Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Does minor layout, for Jigs and floor laydowns

Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor and other employees

Does complex layout, for Jigs and floor laydowns

Ability to read and interpret all blueprints
