Responsibilities

• Operate fabrication equipment and hand/power tools.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Structural Steel Fabricator to join our fabrication team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience fabricating, fitting, measuring, cutting, and assembling structural steel components according to blueprints, shop drawings, and project specifications.

Important Location Requirement

This position requires candidates to be comfortable working at both fabrication facilities in Rochester, NY (14606) and Macedon, NY (14502), approximately 30 minutes apart. Candidates must have reliable personal transportation and be willing to commute between both locations as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Fabricate, fit, and assemble structural steel components, including beams, columns, stairs, railings, and other steel structures.
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and technical specifications.
• Accurately measure, mark, lay out, cut, and prepare steel materials for fabrication.
• Perform fitting, alignment, bolting, and welding operations as required.
• Operate fabrication equipment, hand tools, power tools, and material-handling equipment.
• Inspect fabricated components to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality standards.
• Assist with material handling, loading, and preparing finished products for shipment.
• Follow workplace safety procedures and maintain an organized fabrication area.
• Coordinate with team members to complete fabrication projects within established timelines.

Required Qualifications

• Previous experience in structural steel fabrication, metal fabrication, or a related industrial environment.
• Must be able to read and accurately use a tape measure.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings.
• Knowledge of steel fitting, measuring, cutting, and assembly techniques.
• Familiarity with fabrication tools, machinery, and equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and measurement accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fabrication team.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of a fabrication shop environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with MIG, TIG, or Stick welding.
• Experience operating overhead cranes and forklifts.
• Forklift or overhead crane certifications.
• AWS welding certifications or equivalent.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

Work Locations & Transportation Requirements

Candidates must be willing and comfortable working at BOTH of the following locations:

• Rochester, NY 14606
• Macedon, NY 14502
• Both facilities are approximately 30 minutes apart.
• Employees may be required to report to either location depending on operational requirements.
• Willingness and ability to commute between both facilities is mandatory.
• Reliable personal transportation is strongly preferred.
• Local candidates from Rochester, Macedon, and surrounding areas are strongly preferred.
• Non-local candidates may be considered if they can independently arrange relocation and transportation.
• Relocation assistance is not available.

• Ability to lift and move materials weighing 50 lbs or more.
• Ability to stand, bend, reach, and work for extended periods.
• Comfortable working in an industrial steel fabrication environment.
• Ability to safely operate or work around fabrication machinery and heavy materials.
