Job summary

KODIAK Construction Recruiting & Staffing is seeking an Assistant Construction Manager - Structural Steel for a large-scale semiconductor project in Taylor, Texas. The ideal candidate will oversee steel erection, coordinate RFIs, review drawings, and ensure adherence to AISC 360, AWS D1.1, and IBC standards while maintaining safety and schedule discipline.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of structural steel construction, erection, or design review experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Experience reviewing steel shop drawings, coordinating RFIs, and managing field construction activities.
• Working knowledge of AISC 360, AISC 303, AWS D1.1, RCSC, and IBC standards.
• Proficiency in Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and construction management software.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee structural steel erection, installation, inspections, and field activities.
• Review structural and architectural drawings, shop drawings, technical submittals, and specifications.
• Coordinate RFIs, design clarifications, and communication between engineering teams, general contractors, and subcontractors.
• Monitor construction schedules, progress, quality, and safety compliance.
• Conduct field inspections involving structural steel connections, bolting, and welding.
• Identify and resolve construction conflicts, technical discrepancies, and quality concerns.
• Support contractor oversight, project documentation, and progress reporting.
