We pride ourselves on being nimble enough to remain responsive to client needs yet large enough to offer exceptional bench strength. As a member of our team, you'll have an opportunity to draw from those resources when you need them and, likewise, contribute your expertise when you have something to share.

At Benesch, we are looking for candidates with varied backgrounds and worldviews. We are committed to offering an inclusive work environment where everyone feels valued and respected. Statistics show that women and underrepresented groups are less likely to apply for a position if they don't meet 100% of the qualifications. If this statement resonates with you, don't be so hard on yourself.

Structural Project Manager

Benesch's Tennessee team has built a strong reputation for delivering innovative transportation solutions and developing trusted, long-term relationships with TDOT and local transportation partners. Our team is growing, and we're looking for an experienced Structural Project Manager to help lead the design and delivery of complex bridge and structural projects.

This is an opportunity for a seasoned structural engineer to bring their technical expertise, leadership, and client-focused approach to a collaborative team working on projects that have a lasting impact on the communities we serve.

If you're ready to take on meaningful projects, work alongside talented professionals, and have an increasing level of influence in both project delivery and client relationships, we'd love to hear from you.

Location

This position offers a hybrid work schedule and can be based out of either our Franklin or Nashville, Tennessee office.

What You'll Do
  • As a Structural Project Manager, you'll help lead the design and delivery of bridge and structural projects while working closely with clients and a talented team of engineers and designers.
  • Lead structural design projects from concept through final delivery, including bridge and retaining wall structures.
  • Prepare and review structural and geometric calculations, plans, specifications, cost estimates, reports, and complete design packages.
  • Lead and mentor structural designers and engineers, providing technical direction and supporting their professional development.
  • Coordinate project plans, specifications, cost estimates, and pay items in accordance with TDOT standards and requirements.
  • Work directly with clients to develop scopes of work, fee proposals, and project strategies.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, deliverables, and quality while ensuring work meets client and regulatory requirements.
  • Take ownership of assigned design calculations and plans and ensure appropriate independent quality control reviews are completed.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex design challenges and deliver practical, high-quality solutions.
What We're Looking For

We're looking for an experienced structural engineer who is ready to lead projects, develop people, and build strong client relationships.

You'll bring:

  • 10+ years of bridge design experience, with 12+ years preferred.
  • A B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • PE License in Tennessee, or the ability to obtain Tennessee licensure through reciprocity.
  • Experience working with TDOT and/or local municipalities.
  • Strong technical expertise in bridge design, structural analysis, and the development of complete design packages.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing structural calculations, plans, specifications, cost estimates, reports, and other project deliverables.
  • Strong communication and client relationship skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience developing scopes of work, fee proposals, and contracts.
  • Proficiency with Bentley CAD and structural design software.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
  • A desire to take on increasing responsibility and contribute to the continued growth and success of the Tennessee team.
