Job summary

The Garland Company, Inc. in Cleveland, OH seeks a Project Engineer - Structural to provide technical proposals, ensure designs comply with building codes, and guide drafting personnel in producing construction drawings.

You will coordinate with customers, architects, and consultants, manage outside firms, perform wind uplift and structural analyses, and support the sales team with on-site inspections and presentations.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5+ years' experience in engineering consulting, roofing and/or building enclosure science preferred.
• Post-secondary degree in engineering, building/construction, or architectural degree preferred; HS diploma/GED required.
• Professional Engineer or Architect license is a plus; military or equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Ability to display proficiency in design principles, codes, and product applications; background checks required.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultation and expert advice to customers, management, sales, and architects on products and roof system approvals.
• Manage outside engineering/architectural consultants to estimate, propose, deliver projects.
• Develop and supervise wind design, structural evaluations, and forensic reviews of buildings.
• Review renewable energy systems for building enclosure projects; manage wind uplift programs.
• Direct vendors on engineering deliverables, including shop drawings and calculations.
• Prepare technical proposals and ensure compliance with government and commercial requirements.
• Develop product/project designs per local to international codes; interpret drawings for drafting staff.
• Assist sales force with troubleshooting and on-site inspections; conduct client presentations.
• Proofread/edit technical documents and administer engineering consulting contracts.
• Present at trade shows and industry conferences; travel domestically/internationally as needed.
