IMEG is growing, and we'd love to have you join our team! We are currently seeking a Structural Project Engineer. This position is eligible for remote work or could be located in our Columbus, OH office. As a Structural Project Engineer, you will autonomously manage design and inspection projects. The ideal candidate can self-manage, work well with others, and advocate for our services while working directly with clients. Major industries served include cement and grain, with work involving materials from roofing granules to plastic pellets. Our scope includes working at heights and permit-required confined space entry into material storage silos. Inspectors must be able to perform duties at elevation and maintain focus.

Principal Responsibilities
  1. Read and understand construction documents, including critical information for data collection during and after inspections;
  2. Observe various structures/silo types [concrete and steel] in the field and identify structural deficiencies;
  3. Accurately collect measurements, take representative photos, and record concise notes during inspections;
  4. Perform inspections from personnel lifts or cable rigging on storage silos;
  5. Conduct interior confined space inspections within silos to observe structural elements;
  6. Collaborate with facility personnel to establish inspection objectives and guide rigging subcontractors;
  7. Establish and maintain positive client relationships onsite and describe field observations in reports;
  8. Write detailed technical reports including structure history, inspection methods, observations, and recommendations;
  9. Ensure reports conform to IMEG standards, with responsibility for descriptive content; strong technical writing skills are valued;
  10. Perform structural analysis and work with designers on repair drawings for deficiencies;
  11. Apply design experience in reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, and wood;
  12. Coordinate with the design department to direct drawing progress and ensure code compliance;
  13. Travel out-of-state to inspection sites, typically 1-2 weeks per month, depending on workload and performance.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently;
  • Proficient in technical report writing;
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently;
  • Meet client schedules and project deadlines;
  • Proficient in RISA, Microsoft Office Suite, and AutoCAD.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering (required);
  • Master's in Structural Engineering (preferred);
  • PE License (required);
  • Minimum 5 years (preferably 6+) experience in bulk material handling design consulting industry;
  • Knowledge of ACI, AISC, IBC codes;
  • Certifications including MSHA Miner Training (form 5000-23), OSHA 10, Confined Space Entry;
  • This position is not eligible for sponsorship.

Salary Range: $89,000 - $134,000, based on experience, knowledge, skills, and location. Benefits include bonuses, stock options, health insurance, wellness programs, retirement plans, paid holidays, and PTO.
