Job summary

IMEG is seeking a Structural Project Engineer to join our Urbandale, Iowa team. You will lead design efforts and collaborate with staff to deliver innovative structural solutions for buildings and other structures.

You will work with engineers, consultants, and clients to provide engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight, ensuring projects meet IMEG's standards and client expectations. With a BS in Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineering (MS preferred) and multiple licenses

Qualifications

• BS degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering or equivalent required.
• MS in Structural Engineering preferred.
• PE license preferred.
• SE license and/or SE exam preferred.
• Minimum 4 years, 5 preferred, in building design consulting.
• Proficiency in design techniques and code-compliant plans.
• Strong technical/analytical skills in mechanics and materials.
• Proficiency with BIM software.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to travel up to 15% with overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Lead design efforts for structural systems using engineering software to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards.
• Interact with clients to understand needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively.
• Support project execution as part of a team, leading planning, budgeting, and scheduling tasks to meet deadlines and objectives.
• Document design decisions and client instructions while monitoring project progress and budget.
• Analyze engineering problems and propose innovative solutions in collaboration with senior engineers and consultants.
• Provide in-process design reviews and implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure compliance with industry and client standards.
• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in structural engineering; contribute to research and innovation efforts.
• Prioritize safety and conduct oneself ethically and professionally in all engineering work.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.
• Identify potential project problems and seek advice from the Project Manager.
• Oversee projects through their full life cycle, including developing designs, construction documents, and participating in construction administration duties such as reviewing submittals, RFIs, and conducting job site observations.
