Job summary

Bolton & Menk, Inc. invites a Structural Project Engineer to join the team in its Des Moines or Ames, IA locations. You will collaborate with project engineers and managers to deliver design packages for bridges and structures, perform analyses, and contribute to fieldwork and reporting.

The role emphasizes clarity in design development, plan preparation, and coordination with clients and regulatory agencies. PE licensure is preferred, with sponsorship not available at this time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferred or within 6–12 months of licensure.
• 6+ years of progressive experience in civil engineering, including bridge design.
• Experience in plan and specification development with construction contract administration.
• Proficiency with MicroStation CONNECT, OpenBridge and/or OpenRoads; knowledge of State DOT requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed design computations.
• Project layout and design in MicroStation CONNECT and/or OpenBridge.
• Prepare and present preliminary reports and feasibility studies.
• Prepare, supervise and review plans, specifications, cost estimates and quantity take-offs.
• Travel to work sites and other project locations as required.
• Direct work of other engineers and technicians on projects.
• Assist in training and development of staff.
• Oversee planning, scheduling and performance of multiple projects.
• Support business development opportunities and regulatory relations.
