Job summary

Bala Structures, a division of Bala Consulting Engineers, is seeking a motivated structural engineer for our Arlington, VA office. The role focuses on design, analysis, and client engagement across commercial, residential, and institutional projects.

The candidate will contribute to EOR work, collaborate with MEP teams, and support business development efforts while growing technical and leadership skills within a collegial, growth-oriented firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or master in structural/civil engineering from an accredited program.
• 5–8 years of structural design experience.
• EIT certification in structural engineering.
• PE license preferred.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• Strong client-interaction capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Design and serve as the structural EOR for new construction and renovations.
• Provide consultations to clients on structural work.
• Support Bala’s MEP departments on infrastructure and fit-out projects.
• Engage with diverse sectors: commercial, residential, industrial, institutional, retail.
• Collaborate with architecture and other disciplines.

Bala Structures is seeking a motivated structural engineer with 5-8 years of experience for our Arlington VA -DC area office. Strong interpersonal skills for developing client relationships is a must. We are looking at qualified applicants with diverse backgrounds to help continue to grow the Structures group at Bala.

This role will work in a multitude of services within structural engineering including, but not limited to:

• Design and serve as, or work with, the structural E.O.R. for building designs of new construction, renovations and additions.
• Provide consultations to clients and prospective clients for structural work.
• Support BALA’s MEP departments on infrastructure and fit-out projects.
• Adapt to the varieties of business sectors such as commercial, residential, industrial, institutional and retail.
• In addition, we support any path within the realm of structural engineer that aligns with BALA’s vision.

Job Requirements:

• Structural Engineering, or Civil Degree with structural emphasis, from an accredited institution.
• Registered EIT with a focus on Structural Engineering; Registered PE preferred
• 5-8 experience in structural design of buildings
