Wiley|Wilson in Richmond, VA is seeking a Structural Project Engineer for our 100-percent employee-owned firm. You will lead design tasks on steel and concrete structures and coordinate with other disciplines.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of design experience, a PE or eligibility, and proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and RAM software. You will mentor junior staff, support proposals, review submittals, and visit active jobs.

Qualifications

10+ years of design experience with steel and concrete structures.
ABET-accredited degree in Civil Engineering (Structural) or Architectural Engineering.
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or eligible within 3 months.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
Experience with RAM Structural System, RAM Concept, or RISA.

Responsibilities

Perform engineering tasks, calculations, analyses, and prepare reports.
Develop drawings and specifications for projects.
Coordinate structural activities with other design disciplines.
Lead junior staff in technical structural design.
Support Business Development by assisting proposals and estimating tasks.

The Right Candidate Will

Perform engineering tasks, calculations (hand and software‑based), analyses, and prepare reports.
Develop drawings and specifications for projects.
Coordinate structural activities with other design disciplines.
Lead junior staff in technical structural design.
Support Business Development by contributing to proposals and estimating structural task efforts.
Review construction requests, submittals, and perform site visits at existing and ongoing construction projects.

Requirements

10+ years of progressively responsible design experience with steel and concrete structures.
Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering (Structural concentration) or Architectural Engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution.
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) at job location or able to obtain reciprocity within 3 months.
Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit software.
Strong knowledge of structural analysis software, such as RAM Structural System, RISA, or RAM Concept.
Candidate must be eligible to work in the United States and obtain a security clearance.

Desirable

Experience with federal and industrial projects.
Advanced degree in Structural or Architectural Engineering.
Familiarity with Design‑Build and Design‑Bid‑Build procurement.
Experience in blast design.
