Job summary

The Georgia Department of Agriculture (GDA) is seeking a Structural Pest Inspector 1 to protect consumers and promote Georgia agriculture through inspection and regulation. This role involves inspecting properties, investigating complaints, preparing detailed reports, and providing technical guidance to the regulated community and public.

Inspectors serve in various districts and must reside in assigned counties.

Qualifications

• Vocational/technical degree in agriculture, pest control, or related field; or HS diploma with 1 year of experience; or 2 years of college in chemistry or life sciences.

Responsibilities

• Conducts inspections/investigations to determine compliance.
• Investigates and coordinates complaints on complex issues, determines compliance or non-compliance.
• Writes reports of inspections/investigations describing findings, conclusions, and potential effects.
• Provides technical expertise to other staff, regulated community, and the public.
• Communicates technical information including rules, regulations, laws, and procedures by phone, in-person, and in writing.
• Collects and records technical assistance activities.
• Writes technical reports.
• Completes Department forms and reports.
• Maintains knowledge and develops expertise/resources in focus area(s).
