Job description

Structural Mechanic / Installer

The Structural Mechanic/Installer works as part of a maintenance crew tasked with repairing and implementing structural and body enhancements to an aircraft for which the crew is rated to work on.

Essential Functions:
  1. Installs units, parts, equipment, and components in structural assembly, according to drawings and specifications, using hand tools and power tools.
  2. Replaces worn aircraft body parts, flight control surfaces, conducts fuel cell and tank cleaning and restoration, and replaces pylons and windshields.
  3. Follows strict dimension tolerances and compliance to FAA maintenance bulletins based on supplied engineering blueprints.
  4. Operates gas-based arc welding equipment, brazing equipment, centering tools, riveting tools, and other prescribed sheet metal and structural maintenance tools.
  5. Removes dented or worn-out aircraft sheet metal and structural parts.
  6. Cuts, trims, bends, and smooths sheet metal parts, ensuring proper fit within tolerances and clearance parts.
  7. Interprets engineering blueprints, illustrations, and specifications to determine layouts, sequences of operations, and relationships of parts.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • FAA A&P or appropriate military occupational specialty training required.
Experience:
  • Five years' experience required.
