Description

CONTINGENT UPON CONTRACT AWARD

The Structural Machinist utilizes various tools of the trade, fabricating, modifying and repairing industrial structural systems and equipment, specifically on boats/ships. Works closely with the skills trades team providing solutions on shipboard alterations and installations for fleet modernization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Display levels of quality, integrity, safety, respect, engagement and performance consistent with company values.
• Gain valuable trades and life experience as you learn and focus your skills, through the direction of senior technical tradespersons in a variety of industrial fabrication duties, towards NAVSEA Welding Certification.
• Perform routine work technical trades duties, under direction, and in accordance with blueprints and technical manuals, to include support of technical repair, installation, maintenance and modification of structures and systems.
• Perform semi-skilled and unskilled specific or general duties, such as supplying or holding materials and tools; cleaning working area, machines, equipment and diverse tasks as directed.
• Perform semi-skilled and unskilled laboring duties related to the fabrication, maintenance and repair of a wide array of systems and equipment.
• Other duties as identified and assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience
• High School education and 1 year of related experience, or Trade School or equivalent.
• Must have experience welding.
• Must have experience working in a team environment.
• Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
• Must adhere to safety and quality procedures.
• Related technical Trade School or experience with structural fabrication, shipfitting, or welding.
• Experience comprehending blueprints or engineering sketches.
• Experience on boats/ships preferred.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
• Prior NAVSEA certified welding experience preferred.
• Previous FCAW welding experience preferred.


Supervisory Responsibilities
As Required.


Security Responsibilities
• Eligible and obtain a DoD Personnel Security Clearance.
• Must comply with all company Information Systems security policies and procedures.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• May be responsible for proper classification and marking of all information and materials. Employee shall not divulge any information or afford access to other employees not having a need-to-know authorization. Shall not divulge information outside the company without management approval. Will be required to execute company non-disclosure agreement prior to access to any controlled information.


Language Skills
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex words and technical documents/diagrams.
•Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing and work effectively as part of a team.

Reasoning Ability and Mathematical Skills
• Must be able to analyze problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. An ability to interpret complex customer requirements and attitudes from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication is desirable. Must be able to calculate figures and numbers, and percentages and be able to draw and interpret graphs. Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and drawings.

• Shop floor environment.
• Will be working in areas with risk of injury from electrical applications, moving mechanical parts, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems under pressure and electrical motion systems.
• May be exposed to conditions of extreme heat, airborne particles, and loud noises.
