Job summary

SHEPARD STEEL, a long-standing structural steel fabricator in the Connecticut area, is seeking a Machine Operator (Structural). The role involves operating power fabrication machines, reading blueprints, and maintaining equipment. The successful candidate will have a high school diploma, be physically capable, and speak English.

Overtime and occasional overtime shifts may be required. The position offers health, dental, life insurance, and a 401(k) with employer match.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and diagrams.
• Physically capable of lifting 70 pounds unassisted.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.

Responsibilities

• Operate drills, saws, copers, shot blasters and other fabrication equipment.
• Read and interpret drawings and work orders to perform tasks.
• De-bur and grind metal to specified surface textures.
• Maintain records of material usage and equipment problems.
• Monitor safety standards and report issues to supervisor.
