Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Workforce Development Instructor for Structural Ironworking in Houston to deliver comprehensive training across classroom, hands-on, and field settings. The role builds field-ready capabilities through demonstrations, coaching, and competency assessments, supporting both union and open shop operations.

You will travel to project locations to lead apprenticeship and upskill programs, ensuring safety, quality, and alignment with project needs.

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree.
• Strong knowledge of structural-steel members, drawings, and erection methods.
• Proficiency in trade math, layout, and use of common structural-ironworking tools.
• Ability to travel extensively and work on active field projects.

Responsibilities

• Deliver classroom, hands-on, and field-based instruction for apprentices and journey-level personnel.
• Teach structural skills including unloading, erection sequencing, bolting, alignment, and inspection-readiness.
• Evaluate competency through written and practical assessments and document results.
• Travel to project sites to support workforce development and training operations.
