Job summary

HDR, Inc. seeks a Structural Intern - Buildings in Omaha to support the Building Engineering Services Group. You will assist in designing and detailing structures for diverse building projects under the supervision of senior engineers.

You will gain real-world project experience, learn design criteria, and participate in mentoring programs for young professionals, while contributing to a collaborative, employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
• Attention to detail is essential.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills are required.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills are expected.

Responsibilities

• Gain real-world experience on projects by applying standard engineering techniques for structural design.
• Assist senior Structural Engineers with development of design criteria, calculations, and construction documents.
• Participate in mentoring and young professionals programs.
• Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of a Structural Intern - Buildings, we'll count on you to:

• Gain real-world experience on exciting projects by applying standard engineering techniques and procedures using your knowledge of structural Engineering principles to design and detail steel, concrete, wood, and masonry elements for buildings.
• Work under the guidance and direct supervision of senior-level Structural Engineers to assist with structural engineering tasks including development of project design criteria, analytical models, design calculations (steel, concrete, masonry, and timber), construction details and construction documents for buildings.
• Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals' programs
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer 3+ years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
• Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
• Preference given to local candidates
