Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking Engineering students for its Summerville, South Carolina office. This is not a remote position and interns will contribute to structural projects, learning software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Excel, and GIS.

Interns will assist with analysis, design deliverables, and coordination under supervision, gaining exposure to bridge projects and regulatory practices at federal, state, and local levels.

Qualifications

• Pursuing ABET-accredited engineering degree in Civil/Environmental/Structural or related fields.
• Majors include Civil, Environmental, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Biosystems, Chemical or Agricultural Engineering.
• Engineering Technology accepted if applicable.

Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for Engineering students to join our Summerville, South Carolina (SC) office! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

• Utilize technical software programs on a regular basis to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables for our clients.
• Contribute to the pre-construction on structural projects like bridges, retaining walls, and other structural design efforts related to public and/or private bridge projects.
• Prepare bridge/structural plans, specifications and estimates for clients
• Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce our clients’ visions for the future built environment.
• Develop familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn’s and our client’s practices, procedures, and standards.
• Structural Interns will learn one or more software programs: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Excel, Microstation, VISSIM, Open Roads, Synchro and/or GIS

Qualifications

• In the process of receiving an ABET accredited engineering degree (Bachelors or Masters) in one of the following majors:
  • Civil and/or Environmental Engineering
  • Structural Engineering
  • Mechanical, Electrical, Biological, Biosystems, Chemical, or Agricultural Engineering
  • Engineering Technology
