Job summary

HDR, Inc. in Phoenix is seeking a Structural Intern to gain hands-on experience on real-world projects in building engineering. You will work under supervision and have access to mentoring programs with recent graduates and company leaders.

The role emphasizes applying engineering techniques and expanding knowledge of structural design using industry codes such as IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC, and TMS. This is a part-time, temporary opportunity at our Phoenix location.

Job description

In the role of Structural Intern, we'll count on you to:

• Gain real-world experience on exciting projects
• Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs
• Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures
• Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or Project Manager
• Expand structural mechanics skills learned in the classroom by performing structural design using IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC, and TMS
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
• Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
• Preference given to local candidates

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
• Attention to detail
• Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Basic Microsoft Office skills
