Job summary

HDR is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern in Bellevue, WA for Summer 2027. You will gain real-world experience on exciting projects and collaborate with architects, MEP, and structural teams to support design and delivery.

You will assist with drawings, models, renderings, specifications, and construction documents, and participate in design reviews and site visits. Strong problem-solving and communication skills are essential.

In the role of Structural Engineering Intern, we'll count on you to:

• Gain real-world experience on exciting projects
• Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs
• Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures
• Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or Project Manager
• Support multidisciplinary project teams in the planning, design, and delivery of building projects
• Assist with the preparation of drawings, models, renderings, specifications, and construction documents
• Collaborate with architects, mechanical, electrical, structural, plumbing, and other design professionals
• Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and site visits
• Conduct research on building systems, codes, sustainability initiatives, and emerging technologies
• Utilize industry-standard software and digital tools to support project development
• Perform other duties as needed
• Internship is for Summer 2027

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
• Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, SketchUp, or other design software is a plus

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
• Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Basic Microsoft Office skills
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
