Job summary

MoDOT in Jefferson City, MO is seeking a Structural Hydraulic Designer at entry, intermediate, or senior level to perform hydrologic and hydraulic design computations for routine bridges and box culverts under supervision.

The position uses hydraulic modeling, hydrologic analyses, sediment transport and CAD sketches to develop designs and compare alternatives for hydraulically and fiscally practical solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with hydraulics/hydrology ABET-accredited program.
• Knowledge of hydraulic design for transportation structures preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs hydraulic modeling, design, and analysis of routine structures such as bridges and box culverts.
• Performs hydrologic analyses to support preliminary and hydraulic projects.
• Performs sediment transport and scour analyses to support preliminary and hydraulic projects.
• Creates sketches by hand or CAD to aid hydraulic design and models.
• Evaluates multiple design alternatives with a bridge location/layout designer to find the most practical solution.

Job Location: Central Office, 105 West Capitol Avenue, Jefferson City, MO

This position may be filled at one of the three levels based on knowledge, skills, and abilities. The entry salary is posted above, with the intermediate starting salary of $72,691.68 and a senior starting salary of $78,506.88.

• Works with a bridge location and layout designer to evaluate multiple alternatives to determine the most hydraulically, structurally, and fiscally practical design for the site.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field with an emphasis on hydraulic or hydrology course work from an ABET-accredited college or university curriculum.

Special Working Conditions:

• Job requires occasional, statewide travel.
