Job summary

MoDOT in Jefferson City seeks a structural hydraulic designer to perform hydrologic/hydraulic design computations, drawings, and sketches for routine bridges and box culverts under supervision. This CAREER-LADDER opening offers advancement based on skills and experience.

You will model hydraulics, run hydrologic analyses, analyze sediment transport and scour, and create CAD sketches to support design and evaluation with occasional statewide travel.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Performs hydraulic modeling, design, and analysis of routine structures such as routine bridges and box culverts.
• Performs hydrologic analyses to support preliminary and hydraulic projects.
• Performs sediment transport and scour analyses to support preliminary and hydraulic projects.
• Creates sketches by hand or using CAD applications to aid hydraulic design and model development.
• Works with a bridge location and layout designer to evaluate alternatives for hydraulically, structurally, and fiscally practical design.

This position may be filled at one of the three levels based on knowledge, skills, and abilities. The entry salary is posted above, with the intermediate starting salary of $72,691.68 and a senior starting salary of $78,506.88.

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field with an emphasis on hydraulic or hydrology course work from an ABET-accredited college or university curriculum.

Special Working Conditions:

• Job requires occasional, statewide travel.
