Job summary

The Iowa Clinic in the Des Moines area is seeking a Structural Heart Coordinator to join our patient-centered cardiology team. You will provide professional nursing services, conduct comprehensive patient assessments, coordinate testing and scheduling, and support physicians in delivering high-quality care during standard clinic hours.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of nursing experience required, with cardiology preferred.
  • Knowledge of nursing techniques, procedures, diagnoses and treatments.
  • Exceptional patient skills and communication abilities.
  • Able to prepare and maintain patient records and charting.
  • Team oriented with the ability to assist physicians professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and conduct day-to-day Structural Heart program activities.
  • Provide professional nursing services per established standards.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ care needs.
  • Assist with triage, formulate initial care plans, and coordinate cardiac testing.
  • Schedule tests, manage results, and communicate with patients and providers.
  • Spend time with patients to listen and ensure they feel valued.

A day in the life…

Wondering what a day in the life of Structural Heart Coordinator at The Iowa Clinic might look like?

  • Arrive at work in the morning – no night shifts here!
  • Coordinate and conduct of day-to-day Structural Heart program activities specific to Patients with Structural Heart Concerns.
  • Provides professional nursing services for patients of assigned physician(s) following established nursing practice standards and medical office hospital procedures
  • Conducts comprehensive assessments of patient's care needs
  • Assists provider(s) with patient triage, identifies nursing diagnoses or problem lists and formulates an initial plan of care based on assessment data
  • Assist with coordination, management, and administration of cardiac testing, including facilitating orders, scheduling, results management, and communication with patients and providers.
  • Spend enough time with your patients to listen to them and get to know them
  • Return patient calls and ensure all patients feel valued and cared for
  • Leave in the evening – hooray for working standard clinic hours!

Qualifications
  • 2-5 years of nursing experience required - previous cardiology, vascular or cardiothoracic nursing experience preferred
