Job summary

Schuff Steel Co. is seeking an experienced Production Fitter-Welder in Stockton, CA. The role requires reading drawings, welding structural and plate materials, and fabricating components to exact tolerances.

You will work across ground and elevated positions, using blueprints to layout and fit parts, and will be responsible for finishing and quality checks. Required are a high school diploma or GED and an AWS D1.1 weld test certification.

Qualifications

• Reads and interprets safety rules, operating instructions and blueprints.
• Proficient with welding equipment and hand tools.
• Ability to weld in multiple positions and work with various metals.

Responsibilities

• Follow welding procedures (AWS, AISC).
• Weld on ground level, above ground, and below ground.
• Prepare materials by chipping, peening and grinding.
• Read blueprints and plan fitting operations.
• Tack, weld, and fuse parts; maintain clean work area.
• Move materials and welding equipment as needed.
